Hi there, I’m Yajaira
I am a Licensed Social Worker, and obtained my Master’s Degree at Aurora University. I have previous experience in crisis work with a trauma-informed background and providing ABA therapy for children on the autism spectrum. Previously, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology with a minor in biology from Loras College. My background in Kinesiology and social services fuels my passion and understanding of the mind and body connection.
I am bilingual in Spanish and would like to extend my services to a larger range of people. I have prior experience in counseling at Mend and Heal and is excited to continue my exposure at Living Pono Counseling in hopes of serving clients of more diverse backgrounds.
I feel that it is essential to create a safe space for clients to feel heard and validated. I am
passionate about increasing mental health awareness in underserved communities and providing access to care. With my previous exposure to trauma-informed care techniques, I make a constant effort to meet my clients where they are and allows them to take on the expert role in their journey.

Yajaira completó su Maestría en la rama de trabajo social en la Universidad de Aurora. Tiene experiencia en trabajo de crisis con antecedentes informados sobre el trauma, y proporcionando terapia ABA para niños en el espectro del autismo. Anteriormente, obtuvo su licenciatura en Kinesiología con especialización en biología de Loras College. Su experiencia en kinesiología y servicios sociales alimenta su pasión y comprensión de la conexión entre la mente y el cuerpo. Yajaira es bilingüe en español y le gustaría extender sus servicios a una gama más amplia de personas. Ella siente que es esencial crear un espacio seguro para que los clientes se sientan escuchados y apoyados en sus experiencias . Con su exposición previa a las técnicas de atención basadas en el trauma, hace un esfuerzo constante para ver a sus clientes en donde se encuentran en su tratamiento, y les permite asumir el papel de expertos en su trayecto.
