Nicole Gorr

Intern

Hi there, I’m Nicole

I am currently pursuing a Master of Social Work degree at Aurora University, scheduled to graduate in May 2025.

Before interning at Living Pono, I received my Bachelor of Social Work degree in 2013 at Augsburg University in Minneapolis, MN before entering the non-profit world. I have spent the last 10 years at a non-profit agency, working with older adults and connecting them with much needed services. My first MSW internship was spent at a domestic violence shelter where I worked with both victims of domestic violence, as well as those participating in the Partner Abuse Intervention Program.

With the skills I’ve gained in these areas, I’m aiming to work with clients using a trauma-informed lens and a person-centered approach to help clients reach their goals. I’m passionate about creating a safe space for clients to express themselves without judgement, while working through complex emotions. Outside of Living Pono, I enjoy playing ice hockey, volleyball, softball, and spending time with friends and my boxer Cammi.

THE LIVING PONO APPROACH

in life, Pono stands for righteousness and balance

In Hawaiian, if a person is living Pono, it means that they have struck the right balance within themselves, with other things, places, and the people in their lives.

We take that same approach when helping you to grow.
