Kristi Kauth
LSW Intern
Hi there, I’m Kristi
I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Social Work at Aurora University with a set graduation date in August 2025. Prior, I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Communication at Lake Forest College, where I have also worked since my time as a student in 2017. I have past child trauma/advocacy experience at the Lake County Children’s Advocacy Center in Gurnee, IL, as well as past clinical experience at the Center for Therapeutic Services and Psychodiagnostics in Crystal Lake, IL.
Choosing to pursue therapy is a courageous step toward healing and growing into a more positive mindset and lifestyle. It is my goal to provide a safe and comfortable space for my clients to be their truest selves and get the most out of their therapy experience without judgment. Therapy can be whatever you need or want it to be, and each individual is unique in their expectations and goals – I am more than happy to meet you where you are! I rely on empathy and understanding paired with cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness techniques, strength-based approaches, and other evidence-based skills to help my clients achieve their goals and create lasting positive changes. I prioritize taking time to get to know my clients and understand their lifestyles and unique stories to create a plan together addressing your concerns and goals.
I work with people of all ages and all different backgrounds who seek help, but my focus is on children, adolescents, young adults, and couples/families. I also work with a variety of issues, but I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, life changes, family problems, and relationship issues. If you have an issue that is not listed here or are worried about anything specific, please let me know and we can discuss the concern together to decide if this is the right fit for you!
Therapy can be nerve-wracking, vulnerable, and challenging, but it can also be inspiring, motivating, and fun! I truly believe that everyone can benefit from therapy, no matter the reason – it is an amazing and powerful tool to not only problem-solve and grow but to learn so much about yourself. I am dedicated to empowering individuals to overcome their mental health struggles and personal barriers to help you live how you want to live!

THE LIVING PONO APPROACH
in life, Pono stands for righteousness and balance
In Hawaiian, if a person is living Pono, it means that they have struck the right balance within themselves, with other things, places, and the people in their lives.
We take that same approach when helping you to grow.
