Joy Helfers
Intern
Hi there, I’m Joy
I am a Counseling Intern pursuing a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of the Cumberlands and will graduate in the summer of 2025. I work with children, adolescents, and adults. Across all ages, I use a person-centered approach to help clients experience relief from relationship struggles, shame, anxiety, depression, and inner criticism, often through self-understanding and self-compassion.
I am an empathetic clinician who strives to create a non-judgmental space where individuals feel heard and valued. My approach to wellness incorporates the integration of mind, body, and spirit. Believing everyone deserves a safe place to explore and heal, I use various therapeutic techniques to meet my client’s individual needs. I also believe our relationship with ourselves is foundational to one's overall mental health.

THE LIVING PONO APPROACH
in life, Pono stands for righteousness and balance
In Hawaiian, if a person is living Pono, it means that they have struck the right balance within themselves, with other things, places, and the people in their lives.
We take that same approach when helping you to grow.
